Quantum photonics is a rapidly growing field of research that exploits the quantum properties of light for various technological applications. The main applications of quantum photonics include quantum communications (quantum cryptography - QKD, quantum repeaters...), quantum computing (photonic quantum computers, quantum simulators), detection and imaging (quantum imaging, quantum LIDAR...), metrology and sensors (optical atomic clocks, quantum sensors), fundamental sciences (testing fundamental principles of physics, quantum optics experiments), information and communication technologies (quantum memory, photonic transistors). Quantum photonics promises to revolutionize many fields by providing innovative and powerful solutions that surpass the capabilities of current classical technologies. It encompasses different physical systems from condensed matter physics, but also from atomic and molecular physics, or even nonlinear physics.
