Photonics, the science and technology of light, plays a central role in contemporary scientific and technological advances, and is emerging as a key solution to tomorrow's societal challenges. It encompasses a wide range of applications, from telecommunications and healthcare to energy and information technology, but also addresses and deepens our fundamental knowledge in diverse fields such as optics, electronics and materials science. Non-linear light-matter interactions are at the very heart of photonic technologies, enabling us to better understand and exploit the fundamental properties of matter. This mini-science symposium will “shine the spotlight” on the latest advances and new perspectives offered by light-matter interactions, bringing together experts and researchers to discuss future applications and opportunities in the field.
