Mini colloquiums abstract > Earth science modelling approachesMini-colloque 6 – MC06
Understanding and modeling the mechanisms at work in the Earth's evolution is a major challenge. Many physics studies are inspired by environmental processes at the Earth's surface (continents, oceans, atmosphere and cryosphere) or by geophysics inside the Earth. This work may involve the physics of granular media, fluid mechanics, phase transition physics, soft matter, etc., and can be applied to geomorphology, seismology, glaciology, oceanography, etc.
The identification and characterization of the mechanisms at play is then aimed at understanding the formation and evolution of the environments that surround us.
In this mini-colloquium, we hope to bring together physicists working experimentally in the laboratory or theoretically on problems inspired by the Earth sciences. We hope that the confrontation of different approaches from different fields of physics will help to build fruitful bridges between these fields.
