Arts and Sciences

We offer you a wonderful programme of arts and sciences during the SFP congress:

- An exhibition will present the connections between the arts and sciences, highlighting the work of some fifty artists. Since the beginning of the 20th century, physics, and more specifically quantum physics, has had an influence on the arts, revealing new perspectives on the perception of reality, matter and subjectivity. Original works by American artist Liz Alcona will be on show. In addition, the artist Dominique Peysson will be presenting sculptures in DNA, as well as works produced in collaboration with the ESPCI. Finally, visitors will be able to admire an exclusive stained glass window by Flavie Vincent-Petit, artist, researcher, curator and restorer of stained glass heritage, designed with Julien Proust and Christophe Couteau, researchers at L2n.

- Particular attention will be paid to the links between light, stained glass and nanotechnologies. Through an exhibition on stained glass in Troyes in the 16th century, participants will discover why and how nanoparticles of silver have been used in stained glass windows in the Champagne region for 725 years. The exhibition will also offer the public a new perspective on the Battle of Clavijo stained glass window in Saint-Pantaléon church, highlighting the link between restoration, creation and science. The event will be held in the library of the Université de technologie de Troyes.

- The Cité du vitrail, in the heart of Troyes, welcomes you to its permanent collections and its exhibition En gris et or, un courant de la peinture sur verre en Champagne au XVIe siècle. The Battle of Clavijo stained glass window will be on display. https://cite-vitrail.fr/fr/galerie

- SFP 2025 photo competition - ‘Scienc'À Voir’. Reveal the beauty of science! UTT is launching a unique photo competition, open to researchers, engineers, technicians, teacher-researchers, PhD students and post-docs. Your mission? Capture the elegance of science, from the infinitely small to the infinitely large, through aesthetic and inspiring images resulting from your research. The best works will be exhibited at the conference. Submit your image by email to concours_sfp25@utt.fr

- Nanosculptures: when art meets the invisible! UTT has opened its doors to a unique research residency, devised by Maryon Djavadi, where three artists have explored the world of nanotechnology to create fascinating works. This exhibition invites you to plunge into the creative world of visionary visual artists, combining science and aesthetics alongside doctoral students from the L2n laboratory. A daring collaboration in which the infinitely small becomes an infinite source of inspiration!

- Dive into the heart of a two-voice conference, between research and creation, with Christophe Couteau and Flavie Vincent-Petit. Through the stained glass windows of Notre-Dame de Paris and other emblematic creations, discover how tradition and innovation shape these masterpieces of light. A fascinating encounter between art, know-how and science not to be missed!

- Let yourself be captivated by the ‘Volvox’ installation by Thomasine Giesecke, Jean-Marc Chomaz (LadHyX) and Bruno Palpant (LuMIn). A hypnotic dance in a closed environment, inspired by the invisible movement of marine micro-organisms. Somewhere between art, science and light, discover the unique optical effects of bichromatic gold nanoparticles suspended in drops of blown glass, floating as if in the heart of the abyss. A sensory and immersive experience not to be missed!

- EquiQuanto is a show born of an unlikely poetic encounter between a cartoonist, Paul Kichilov, and a quantum physicist, Charles Antoine. This lecture-show popularising quantum physics is told through a virtual equestrian journey, drawn live by Paul Kichilov and accompanied by flamboyant music. Modern science turned into equestrian poetry.

- The Troyes Museum of Modern Art (MAM) invites you to discover the ‘Meteorites, between heaven and earth’ exhibition designed by the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle. Revered and then studied, these stones fallen from the sky reveal the secrets of the origins of the solar system. Discover an immersive scenography with over 80 exceptional pieces, fascinating films and works of art inspired by the cosmos. Experience something new: touch a fragment of the Moon and Mars! A scientific and poetic journey not to be missed.
